Mad Crush

Crossover Appeal

I was thrilled to hear The Mad Crush reviewed on Randy Fuller’s Now and Zin Wine Report, and not just because he declared the book “a great read” and described it as “irresistible.”

It’s something else he said that really struck a nerve with me: “Its entertainment value is not restricted to those who know a lot about wine. Everyone can enjoy this book.”

Now that is music to my ears, and it’s something that others have noted as well (Joe Roberts: “You don’t have to be a wine lover to appreciate The Mad Crush“). It’s gratifying to know that this true story about wine is striking an inclusive note.

There’s a lot of chatter in the wine world about casting a wider net, cultivating new wine drinkers and bringing younger people into the fold. So maybe there is a place for an action-oriented, more-grit-than-gloss wine book that doesn’t just appeal to wine enthusiasts.
