20 Years Later…
Earlier this week, 20 years after the harvest season events that inspired The Mad Crush, and for the first time since completing the book, I returned to Saucelito Canyon Vineyard and took a walk down memory lane.
It was like entering a time warp. So much has changed for me since that fateful 1995 crush, and yet much has also remained the same. The old vines still stand, the vineyard cottage that I lived in hasn’t changed, and I’m still drawing energy from the lessons learned long ago in the winery cellar.
As a young man, it was all about going forward. That’s how I ended up in the canyon. As I get older, however, I see the wisdom in looking back. And that’s how I ended up back in the canyon. Such is the circle of life, I guess.
